R.I.P. MAXX
CH MOONSNOE DIAMOND IN THE JEWEL

Aug. 13, 1994 - Sept. 23, 2008

hen I wrote a tribute to Ty it was a very sad day and now 3 years later I am writing one for Maxx, my first born pup at Moonsnoe and the foundation male of my line. He graced us with 14.1 yrs of his

bossy arrogant self who was the light of my life, we miss him more each day.

From the day Maxx was 5 weeks old he had a stance and stature that Sylvia Murray (my best friend and mentor) said would make him a great dog and ambassador to this wonderful breed and how right she was even though she didn't live to see it.

Maxx and Kiva (Maxx’s mom) were my only 2 for a year and then we had Sara's litter of 9. Maxx was so good with the pups, his exceptional personalty and temperament really started to shine now that he had little ones to lavish it on. Sara was his new charge and he was with her always. He looked after her pups with Kiva until they were under foot then he got worried he would hurt them  so he would growl at them to get back to mom. It was pretty cute to watch. Maxx was like this with all the new born pups, even at 13 when Jazz had her first litter he was right there to help her clean the babies and show her what to do.

When Maxx started his show career at 2 he was just as good with other dogs in and out of the ring. He and handler Jennifer McCauley were a special pair as they had a wonderful bond which showed in and out of the ring. Maxx also loved going to Jennifer's house and playing with her Goldens and her whippet Solar. With this great chemistry Maxx went to be TOP Malamute in Canada in 1996 and 1998 and 9th in working dogs. These were great accomplishments for a dog so young. We were always so proud of him.

At home Maxx and Paul were always together and they were a funny pair. Maxx would follow Paul around the yard and if he stopped Maxx would run right into him. They did everything together from sledding, backpacking, 4 wheeling to just hanging out at a camp fire having a beer together. Yes Maxx liked his beer and in the morning his coffee.

When Maxx was first introduced to Ty at Sylvia’s, it was love  at first site and in a few months Ty moved in with us and they were inseparable.  The 2 of them only had 3 small litters as Ty was 5 by this time and the first was one pup Solo and then we had 2 litters of 3 and 4. Most of the pups are parents also and have produced some wonderful grandkids for Maxx and Ty to both be proud of. Most of whom went on to be Canadian Champions also.

He loved all his family and was still the bossy over all. When the boys would kiss his face and he would growl in his gruff way and tell them to get lost. He was a good teacher for the young  ones who were put in the harness for the first time. Again he would be steady and solid out front and the pups couldn't act up or he would give them heck.

Maxx was so great with all his human friends and especially to the kids he encountered. When Jessy came along, our granddaughter he would never leave her side. She was his favorite little friend in the whole world. She would help feed and brush him when ever she could. At 3 years she is sad that he is gone but she told me he was in heaven with his mommy.

I could write for days on how much this great guy meant to us but I think everyone has a very special bond with there pal Mal.

So I will say “SO LONG” to my old man and when I look up in the sky I can imagine the two of them running around like kids again. They will be both howling with joy to be able to sit in the shade and just watch over everyone like they did here in the yard.

Good bye my friend, until we meet again... from your loving Family and Friends

We will miss you always,
Paul, Janis and the rest of the gang
